One of the things we do during recess is tag. We play very intensely when it is only us on the play structure. Sometimes we get hurt playing tag, but we never thought that Jacob would get his hand stomped on and break it; we thought it was just a bruise, but it was broken!! Here are a few words from Jacob, “At first I thought it was nothing much but it started hurting really bad and my mom took me to the radiology center to get an x-ray. They read my x-ray and said I fractured 2 bones in my hand and then I knew it was major!!”
Another thing we like to do is Pokémon. Everybody has at least 10 cards, and then we battle (but we do not take each other cards.) We have made up our own rules, but sometimes that leads to an argument. There are some Pokémon that are really strong - some even have cards that have 230 HP (a.k.a health points); those are call MEGAs. The strongest EXs are also very good - they usually have 180 HP. Here are a few words from the Pokémon master ”I have 30EXs, but there is a down side. Nobody wants to battle me!”
For their final Language Arts project, students created a Classroom Yearbook to record their memories of 4th grade - this blog documents their largely unfiltered thoughts and images.
